Message Howe and the Koyo are major sellers in the aftermarket cooling system world. My car runs damn hot to in those spots your talking about, because of the exhaust. Your stock OEM exhaust that we pulled had heat shields causing that heat you feel. For the to be running hotter then the gauge would be seen, but that's just a sign of working, running and in operating spec's. So you could get an aftermarket gauge and get a somewhat pin point degree out of it. That thermostat opens at 170 degrees. What radiator cap did you get? Since you car has been running fine until now it seems, check that lower hose under the back side of the radiator. Didn't see if you changed to an aluminum lower pipe or not, but like with my Howe, that is a sharp 90 degree angle coming off the radiator and even the small rubber hose I had to use in connecting the AL pipe with the radiator would kinda crease on me. I even put a wire spring in there to keep it open on the bend best I could. Because the 3" radiator came back so close the AC compressor, not much room. So if your running a stock full rubber hose, may be soft and collapsing. My car runs fine with my set up and I run a colder Nismo Stat.

Going to XIII and beyond :)
